Bodegas Campo Viejo Rioja Tempranillo 2014, Spain

My Rating 81 Points.

Price $12.

Bright ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

Light nose of blueberries, cherries, currants, oak, vanilla, licorice, cloves, earth, light vegetables and black pepper.

Medium bodied with high acidity and nice legs.

Tart on the attack and dry on the palate with plums, sour strawberries, earth, tar, spices and peppercorn.

Medium finish with soft tannins and tart pomegranates.

This tempranillo from Rioja is a nice food wine, but not one to drink by the porch. Unbalanced and simple.

I paired it with a BBQ chicken and beef.

13% alcohol by volume.
