Michael David Winery Freakshow Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 Lodi, California

My Rating 90 Points.

Price $20.
Dark ruby in color with a purplish Rim.

Fruity nose of blackberries, blueberries, cherries, licorice, figs, cloves, earth, leather, green pepper, mocha, coffee, chocolates, tobacco, beef jerky and peppercorn.

Full bodied, bold and jammy, with medium plus acidity and long legs.

Dry and extremely fruity on the palate, with blackberries, black currants, plums, bell pepper, tart cherries, oak, vanilla, licorice, cloves, herbs, earth and peppercorn.

Long finish with soft tannins, black pepper and tart strawberries.

This 4 year old from Lodi, California, is still drinking nicely, but probably on the way down. Lots of vegetable notes and very little tannins, this time.

Thank you Stacy and Dan, for sharing.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

  1. I was just visiting this Lodi winery last weekend. Michael David is considered one of the larger wineries in the area, but the tasting room still isn’t that big. Lodi reminds me of Paso Robles from 10-15 years ago. Nonetheless, I did enjoy their wines and my visit. They also have a nice outdoor tasting area with a patio and pond area. If you are in Lodi, this is one of the wineries to visit.
