Dark ruby in color with a very wide reddish rim and medium intensity.
Fruity nose of raspberries, cherries, wood, licorice, cloves, herbs, spices, tobacco, earth, light vegetables, wet leaves and coffee.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity and long legs.
Very dry on the palate with cherries, raspberries, wood, licorice, spices, earth, wet leaves, bitter vegetables, herbs, eucalyptus, coffee, forest floor, pencil lead, peppercorn and tobacco.
Medium minus on the finish with firm tannins and tangy pomegranates.
This nice Rioja is enjoyable now, but would be much better in a few years. Not fully balanced yet, with lots of earth and bitter vegetable notes.
A little tart for my taste. A good food wine, though.
Needs an hour in a decanter to open up properly and show some tannins.
I paired it with Spanish tapas.
14% alcohol by volume.
