Beran & Steorra Wines Sonoma County Zinfandel 2013, California

Dark ruby in color with a purplish rim.

Sweet nose of cooked cherries, vanilla, blueberry pie, oak, licorice, cloves, herbs, spices, dark chocolates, coffee, peppercorn, vegetables, green herbs, mint, tobacco and black pepper.

Full bodied and bold with medium acidity and nice legs.

Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked strawberries, spices, pencil lead, wood, licorice, vanilla, earth, cola, coffee, chocolates and black pepper.

Medium plus in finish with round tannins and spices.

This is a great Zinfandel from Sonoma County. Well balanced and enjoyable by itself or with food. Drinking very nicely now with nice complexity and balance.

Wine Spectator 90 points. Wine Enthusiasts 89 points.

This is another lovely wine from the Wagner family. I’ve had their California Zinfandel before, which wasn’t that great. This is so much better.

Aged for 12 months in French and American Oak barrels. This was a great vintage and it is showing in this fine Zinfandel.

15.2% alcohol by volume.

90 points.

$28.
