Juan Gil Monastrell Silver Label 2014 Jumilla, Spain

My Rating 88 Points.

Price $15.

Dark ruby in color with a wide brick rim.
Nice nose of black currants, plums, bell pepper, oak, licorice, spices, chocolates, vegetables, forest floor, smoke and peppercorn

Medium to full bodied and rich, with medium plus acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with red currants, plums, strawberries, wood, licorice, vegetables, vanilla, bitter herbs, pencil lead, spices and peppercorn

Nice finish with firm tannins, tangy cranberries and black pepper.

This Spanish Monastrell is never boring. Well balanced and approachable. Earthy and spicy, with lots of fresh fruit.

Good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up. Enjoyable by itself or with food. I paired it with chicken and pork BBQ skewers.

Grapes are grown on clay soils and aged in French oak barrels.

15% alcohol by volume.
