My Rating 84 Points.
Price $12.
Burgundy in color with a red rim.
Fruity on the nose with blackberries, black currants, plums, cherries, oak, vanilla, licorice, spices, sage, light vegetables, light cloves and black pepper.
Medium-bodied with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with plums, cherries, strawberries, blueberries, oak, barnyard, vanilla, dirt, cloves, mocha, coffee, dark chocolates, tobacco and peppercorn.
Medium finish with soft tannins, tart cherries and bitter herbs.
A nice everyday Zinfandel from California. Enjoyable by itself right out of the bottle. I paired it with BBQ Meats. Nicely balanced and complex, with tart cherry finish that makes it that much more interesting. Too many vegetable notes here for my taste, though.
13.9% alcohol by volume.
You are a tough reviewer. you need to list your 90 point + recommendations. Do you think that since most wines get a 75-95 rating anyway, that we ought to rate them relative to the mean score? So an 85 is just average for example. More imformative than the absolute score, don’t you think?

You can review my Rating schedule on the rating page. Might explain it better. Let me know if you Still have a question. Cheers

Hi there, I have been following your wine review blog for awhile and haven’t commented in a while, but had a question. What rating of yours would you consider to be dinner guest- or gift-worthy?

Thanks for following, hope you are enjoying it. As to your question, above 85 would be above average eine. More than 90, is for those you really like… 😃

Buy the 2nd cheapest pinot, or a malbec. no one knows what you paid for them, and they will taste really good. Any you get the same buzz no matter what you bought.

I cannot drink red wine as I get a migraine from it, but a pinot gris or grigio is always good! Thank you!

Billy, there’s Nothing wrong with buying the cheapest wine, but it is not true to say that no one knows the difference…
