Shirah Wine Company Murmur Vineyard Syrah 2016, Santa Barbara County, California

This Single Vineyard Syrah from California is drinking beautifully now.

Full bodied with medium acidity.

Dry and fruity on the palate with a nice mouthfeel.

Showing blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, oak, dark chocolates, coffee, pencil lead, earth, vegetables, spices, tobacco leaf, tar, bitter herbs and black pepper.

Medium plus on the finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

Nicely balanced with nice complexity. Fruit forward, tangy and elegant. The high alcohol is well integrated at this point.

This 7-year-old is peaking now and good right out of the bottle.

I had it 4 years ago, and decided to give it a few years in the bottle to mature. Good call on my part. So much better now.

A great sipping wine.

A blend of 97% Syrah and 3% Viognier. Aged for 22 months in French Oak barrels (25% new). Kosher and not Mevushal.

14.7% alcohol by volume.

90 points.

Full bodied and buttery with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with apples, citrus, oak, spices, vanilla, herbs and black pepper.

Medium finish with limes and almonds.

This is a very tasty Chardonnay from Santa Barbara County. Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel. Spicy and interesting.

Would be nice to revisit this Single Vineyard Chardonnay in a couple of years.

Good right out of the bottle, and better as it opens up and removes some of the oakiness.

A good wine to sip on by the porch, which is exactly what I did.

Aged in French oak barrels.

14.6% alcohol by volume.

89 points.

The Wine Spies Enigma Rosé of Grenache 2019, Santa Barbara, California

A pretty color of light salmon with a peachy hue.

Fruity and flowery nose of raspberries, limes, green apples, light grapefruits, earth, minerals and white pepper.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with strawberries, citrus, raspberries, green apples, grapefruits, herbs and sea salt.

Tangy finish with spices and limes.

This is a very enjoyable Rosé from Santa Barbara in California. Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel.

Shows nice complexity, and good by itself or with food. Easy drinking and good for parties. A good pool wine too.

A nice summer wine. This is dangerously good as it’s very easy to finish the bottle all by yourself 😃

Tangy and interesting. Not bitter nor tart which I liked. Refreshing when properly chilled.

I had it all by itself by the pool.

13.5% alcohol by volume.

90 points.
