Kukeri Wines Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon 2018, Napa Valley, California

It’s time for my #FridayCabernetfix. Here is a tasty one from Mount Veeder.

Deep ruby in color with a reddish rim.

Fruity nose of black plums, black currants, dark coffee, oak, spices, pencil lead, vanilla, tobacco, licorice, earth, light herbs and peppercorn.

Medium plus in body and smooth, with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with black currants, plums, cooked cherries, cedar, coffee, vanilla, spices, cola, licorice, mint, black pepper, bitter herbs, vegetables and earth.

Tangy finish with fine grained tannins, cranberries and peppercorn.

This young Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley is starting to drink nicely now, although it needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly.

Showing nice complexity, elegant and spicy, with lots of earth notes.

Good right out of the bottle, and better after an hour of airtime.

Smooth, elegant and tangy. Feels like a young Bordeaux, and will age nicely in the next 10 years.

Good by itself or with food. Will pair nicely with BBQ Meats. I paired it with a Brie cheese and crackers.

100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were aged for 30 months in French oak barrels (50% new). A tiny production of only 125 cases.

Scout and Cellar Gallivanti Pinot Noir 2019 North Coast, California

Ruby in color with a wide and cloudy, reddish rim.

Fruity nose with bing cherries, earth, barnyard, light vegetables, smoke and black pepper.

Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity.

Dry on the palate with cherries, strawberries, red currants, smoke, vegetables, spices, earth, peppercorn, bitter herbs and dark coffee.

Short finish with fine-grained tannins and spices.

This is a nice everyday Pinot Noir from the North Coast of California.

Spicy and good right out of the bottle. Showing mild complexity with a nice mouthfeel.

Fruit forward and good by itself or with food. I paired it with cheeses and light appetizers.

100% Pinot Noir grapes. Unfined and vegan

Lapis Luna Wines Red Blend 2017 North Coast, California

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

Fruity nose of blueberries, black cherries, chocolates, coffee, smoke, spices, light wood and black pepper.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity and nice legs.

Dry and fruity on the palate with blueberries, cherries, plums, light wood, licorice, vanilla, tobacco, light vegetables and black pepper.

Medium finish with soft tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a nice everyday red blend from California. Nicely balanced and fruit forward. Easy drinking, spicy and tangy.

Good by itself as a sipping wine by the porch. Way too easy to drink, so watch out.

I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.

A blend of 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 10% Sangiovese and 10% Barbera.

14.3% alcohol by volume.
