Meadowcroft Wines Anniversary Cuvee Napa Valley Non Vintage, California

For this week’s #MerlotThursday I opened a very nice red blend from California. Merlot is not the dominant grape here, but it works for me 😉

Pretty color of purple with a purplish rim.

Fruity nose of blueberries, black plums, black currants, vanilla, cedar, licorice, Indian spices, dark coffee, light tobacco, pencil lead and black pepper.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with currants, black cherries, blueberries, wood, cloves, vanilla, spices, espresso, dark chocolates, peppercorn, leather and tobacco.

Medium plus on the finish with soft tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a very young red blend from Napa Valley, and it is already tasty. Nicely balanced with a soft mouthfeel.

Easy drinking, light and airy. Tangy and interesting. Good by itself or with food. I gave it an hour to open up.

Showing good potential, and would benefit from 3 to 5 years in the bottle to further mature and get more complex.

This Non Vintage was bottled in 2019.

I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.

A blend of 20% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Cabernet Franc, 14% Syrah, 5% Petite Verdot and 1% Malbec. Aged in (30% New) French oak barrels. A small production of only 180 cases.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

90 points.

$52.
