Biltmore Estate Wine Company American Riesling 2016, North Carolina

Pale lemon in color.

Strong fruity nose of honeysuckle, diesel, peaches, melons, citrus, apricots, tropical fruits, red apples, pineapples, spices, minerals and white flowers.

Medium-bodied with medium plus acidity and somewhat buttery.

Semi-sweet on the palate with lemons, citrus, green apples, rose petals, grapefruits, honey, apples, melons, spices, bitter herbs and white pepper.

Long sweet finish with almonds and limes.

This is my first North Carolina wine and it’s a great start. Showing nice complexity and mouthfeel.

Well balanced and enjoyable by itself or with food. Has a touch of Muscadine flavor, with lots of honey and flower notes.

Good for parties or as a sipping wine, to enjoy by the porch or pool.

I paired it with a cheese plate, crackers and great company.

12.5% alcohol by volume.

88 points.

$12.

  1. If this is your first North Carolina wine, please try some from North Carolina’s Yadkin Valley. Raffaldini Vineyards, Piccione Vineyards, JOLO Vineyards, and Shelton Vineyards are good to start. You can thank me later.
