Tortoise Creek Wines “The Chelonian” Zinfandel 2014 Lodi, California

My Rating 85 Points.

Price $13.

Ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

Fruity nose with black currants, cherries, blueberries, sweet raspberries, smoke, chocolates, coffee, vanilla, wood, spices, licorice and peppercorn.

Medium bodied with medium plus acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with plums, strawberries, cherries, currants, oak, vanilla, chocolates, licorice, spices and black pepper.

Spicy finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a nice Zinfandel from Lodi, California. Well balanced, spicy and simple. A good everyday wine.

Drinkable right out of the bottle. Better as it opens up and gets some tannins (30 minutes).

14.6% alcohol by volume.
