Outpost Wines Howell Mountain Zinfandel 2009, California

My Rating 92 Points.

Price $60.

Dark inky in color with a purplish rim.

Wonderful fruity nose of blackberries, blueberries, figs, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, oak, vanilla, licorice, raisins, earth, spices and peppercorn.

Full-bodied, bold, elegant and smooth, with medium acidity and great legs.

Dry and fruity on the palate with blackberries, blueberries, raisins, black currants, cherries, wood, cloves, licorice, graphite, earth, bitter herbs, spices and black pepper.

Long finish with round tannins, raspberries and Mediterranean spices.

This is a great Zinfandel from Howell Mountain. Just what I like. Well balanced, complex and interesting. Spicy with a great mouthfeel, chewy and a little Jammy. Peaking right now. Good right out of the bottle, and better as it opens up.

Enjoyable by itself or with food. Great by the pool on this nice Florida evening. Great food wine to pair with BBQ ribs.

15.9% alcohol by volume.
