Franciscan Estate Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2013, California

My Rating 88 Points.

Price $25.
Ah, my Friday’s Cabernet fix…

Deep purple in color with a purplish rim.

Bitter nose with green peppers, blackberries, blueberries plums, wildflowers, sweet strawberries, earth, leather, cedar, vinaigrette, green vegetables, herbs, smoke and peppercorn.

Medium bodied with medium acidity and nice legs.

Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, bell pepper, cherries, oak, vanilla, licorice, earth, spices, vegetables, cola, pencil lead, smoke, spices, chocolates, herbs and black pepper.

Medium finish with firm, green tannins and peppercorn.

This is a nice Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, but still young. A bit unbalanced with lots of green notes. Could use a few more years in the bottle to balance out.

After opening up, the nose is delightful, better than the palate.

Needs 90 minutes to open up properly. Not good right out of the bottle.

Aged for 20 months in small oak barrels.

13.5 % alcohol by volume
