Oliver Winery and Vinyards Sangria Non-Vintage, Indiana

My Rating 80 Points.

Price $9.

Light burgundy in color with light intensity.

Fruity on the nose with overripe cherries and plums, vanilla, spices, cinnamon and red flowers.

Medium-bodied with low acidity.

Extremely sweet on the palate with cherries, plums, spices, cinnamon, citrus, peaches and red apples.

Medium finish and sweet, sweet, sweet.

This is not the best sangria I’ve had, but it is drinkable. Nothing to write home about, though. Needs to be watered down because it is too sweet.

This is my first wine from Indiana, not a great start…

11% alcohol by volume.

  1. I haven’t tried this specific sangria, but I agree that they are often too sweet. My solution is to mix with club soda, and pour over strawberries, kiwi and clementine slices. The acidity of the fruit offsets the sweetness, as does the club soda.
