Colby Red 2015, California

My Rating 88 Points.

Price $13.

Deep burgundy in color with a purplish rim.

Light and fruity nose of blackberries, black currants, sweet plums, cherries, wood, licorice, spices, dark chocolates, vanilla, black pepper and earth.

Full bodied with medium acidity and beautiful long legs.

Fruity on the palate with blackberries, black currants, cherries, earth, leather, spices, peppercorn, smoke, chocolates and pencil lead.

Medium plus on the finish with round tannins (after 30 minutes of air time) and tangy cherries.

A very nice surprise on this Californian red blend. Rich mouthfeel and nice balance, with good complexity. Very enjoyable by itself, as a sipping wine.

This is the first 2015 red, that I enjoyed so far. Not one for aging, so drink now. Good right out of the bottle and good wine for parties.

A blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Petite Sirah, 12% Merlot, 11% Zinfandel and 8% Syrah.

13.9% alcohol by volume.
