Primal Roots Winery Red Blend 2012, California

My Rating 84 Points.

Price $10.
Dark ruby in color with a deep purple rim.

Fruity nose of blackberries, blueberries, cherries, licorice, oak, vanilla, earth, spices, smoke, chocolates, leather, leaves and peppercorn.

Full bodied with medium plus acidity and beautiful long legs.

Dry to off dry and very fruity on the palate with blackberries, black currants, sweet plums, green vegetables, licorice, toasted oak, chocolates, asparagus, tobacco, spices, herbs and and peppercorn.

Medium finish with round, elegant tannins and spices.

An above average red blend from California. Nice balance and mouthfeel, with some complexity.

Inexpensive and enjoyable by itself. A Good sipping wine and also good wine for parties. Good right out of the bottle, and gets some complexity after an hour of opening up.

Had this vintage over 6 months ago, and I liked it this time better. It shows more complexity and spiciness.

A blend of Syrah, Merlot, Petite Sirah and Zinfandel.

13.5% alcohol by volume.
