Simi Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2013, California

image

My Rating 83 Points.
Price $25.

Deep ruby in color with a purplish rim.

Fruity and harsh on the nose with blackberries, plums, cherries, vanilla, cloves, chocolates, metals, spices and heavy peppercorn.

Full bodied with medium acidity and great long legs.

Dry and fruity on the palate with plums, cherries, blackberries, currants, cloves, leather, chocolates and peppercorn.

Long finish with full, aggressive tannins and black pepper.

I expected more from this Simi Cabernet, but maybe it is just a matter of age.

Not smooth at all, still young and abrasive. Still unbalanced and needs to chill out in the bottle for another 2 years.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I got to call it as I see it.

With the 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, there also is 8% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot and 1% Malbec.

Aged for 16 months in small oak barrels, French and American

13.5% alcohol by volume.
