Golan Heights Vineyards Yarden Odem Organic vineyard Merlot 2009 Israel

image

My Rating 92 Points.
Price $50.

Dark ruby in color with a purple rim.

Beautiful nose of blackberries, figs, cherries, oak, licorice, sweet strawberries, earth, citrus, spices, black pepper and dirt.

Full bodied and elegant with medium acidity and nice legs.

Smooth, fruity and dry on the palate with blackberries, cherries, plums, currants, oak, dirt, earth and black pepper.

Long finish with full, round tannins, spices and black pepper.

This 6 year old, Single Vineyard Merlot, is already drinking beautifully, well balanced and elegant. Will be even better in 3 to 5 years.

Grapes grown at an altitude of 3,600 Feet. Aged for 14 months in French oak barrels. Very unique. Only 18 barrels were made.

Paired it with a cheese plate.

15% alcohol by volume.

  1. Your review of this wine makes me drool. If you only knew how hard it is to find Israeli wine in Montana. I have a friend going to Israel for Easter and he will bring me a couple of bottles (two is the limit) when he returns. What wines should they be? I may be able to get four if his wife agrees to bring me two as well.
