Bodega Catena Zapata High Mountain Vines Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 Mendoza, Argentina

image

My Rating 84 Points.
Price $18.

Very intense Dark ruby in color with a purple rim.

Great nose of blackberries, cherries, wild flowers, bell pepper, earth, oak, vanilla, licorice, herbs, spices and black pepper.

Full bodied and bold with medium acidity.

Fruity on the palate with cherries, blackberries, raspberries, oak, strawberries, green pepper, spices, licorice and peppercorn.

Medium plus on the finish with full tannins and lots of black pepper, but with a slight bitter aftertaste.

This is a nice Cabernet, but too spicy for my taste. Remind me a lot of their Malbec. It is still young, so in a few years it will tone down a bit.
I didn’t like the bell pepper on the palate, either.

13.5% alcohol by volume.
